Heat pumps come in a few different configurations, understanding your current heating and cooling system will help you choose the best option for your home.
Ducted
Ducted systems have an outdoor unit (similar to a central air conditioner), which connects to your home’s ductwork through an indoor air-handling unit. A well designed and sealed ducted system can deliver balanced heating and cooling throughout the living area or workspace. Ducted systems work well for homes that already have ducts.
Ductless
Ductless systems (also called mini splits) have an outdoor unit that is connected to at least one indoor unit by a small refrigerant pipe. The heads typically serve one room or area of the home and can be mounted on the wall, floor or the ceiling. Ductless systems are a great option for homes that do not have ductwork.
Homes can also have a mix of ducted and ductless systems, depending what is right for you!
